The slots that hold the fence screws have shrunk a bit and would need to be filed to allow full range of movement, shoudl you choose to use them. A rarity, yes, but also usable.

This saw was made for E.M. Boynton by Peace in Brooklyn, NY. It has a clear etch with all four of Boynton's Lightning Saw patents: Nov 27. 1866, July 23, 1867, Jan 14, 1868, and July 27, 1869. Boynton advertised this design heavily in industry trade publications. While Boynton is listed as a sawmaker, there is no evidence that he ever owned a saw factory or produced saws on his own. It's generally accepted that Peace made a majority of his saws, with a few examples found that might be Richardson-made. This example has a Peace medallion in the handle. It dates to the 1870s based on the patents and overall design. The plate is clean adn straight. The split saw screws are in great shape. The only flaw is a slightly truncated top horn. It's a true rarity and would be a great addition to a saw collection.

This is a true rarity. The saw was made by Peace in Brooklyn, NY. It was custom-etched for the inventor, Cornelius Tenney. Tenney is better-known for his earlier July 3, 1883 patented reinforcing plate, also used on Peace's saws, which is more common. The saw features Tenney's Jan 1, 1884 patent brace which connects the plate to the handle. This is the only example I've seen with this patented feature. This is an 18in panel saw. The plate hasn't been cleaned and has some discoloration, but the etch is clear. The handle is excellent, completely free of damage. It's a rare one- a great saw to add to a collection.

No, that's not a typo. It's marked 7/8in, but the distance between the nickers (which is what defines the size of the dado it cuts) is exactly 13/16. The plane has minimal wear, and long, clean blades. It's still straight. The depth stop works, but it's a little loose. Once it's set it pushes up a bit but it doesn't slip. It's a common problem. Just take the slip into account when you set the depth. It's a good, usable plane

80 pages, softcover, excellent condition. This is a somewhat important reference as United Hardware and Tool was a major reseller in the early 20th century. They sold many tools under the "Fulton" name brand. This brand is frequently associated with Sears but this catalog suggests at least some of these tools were sold by United instead. They sold a full line of tools of all sorts including many German wooden planes sold under the Columbia brand name. It's a somewhat hard catalog to find today, and very useful.
