First time visiting Hyperkitten? Here's a short introduction.
Exceptional Jo. Fuller 18th Century Molding Plane
$225
This plane was made by Joseph Fuller in Providence, RI. Fuller was one of the most important, prolific, and best-documented planemakers in 18th-century America. In addition to being a joiner and toolmaker, he also served as an officer in the American Revolutionary War. His story is well-documented in GAWP-V. This is one of the best examples of his work I've seen, and by far the finest I've offered for sale. It's made of yellow birch with the typical wedge profile and decorative ovolo at the corner of the step. It has a bold, crisp maker's mark and virtually no wear. It hasn't been restored or altered in any way. An exceptional example of this highly desirable maker's work. $225

$22
This plane has seen minimal, if any, use. The blade is long and clean. The corners and edges of the plane's body are crisp and sharp. There is one flaw- a sliver of boxing missing from the heel, likely due to being dropped or an errant mallet blow. An excellent worker in a good medium size. $22

This is a top-quality plane made by Barton in Rochester. It's especially clean and well-made. The blades are perfect. It cuts a complete 180 degree round-over on 1 1/8in stock. That probably doesn't sound terribly useful, but it'll work beautifully on implement handles or any sort of straight spindle around that width. An excellent working example. $30

Excellent 1in Nosing Plane
$24
This plane is in excellent condition with light wear. The blade is especially clean. It cuts a complete 180-degree round-over on 1 1/8in stock. It would be useful as a forkstaff plane to work implement handles, among other uses. It was made by Thos. Appleton, a Boston-area planemaker who worked through the mid-late 19th century. $24
Scarce Mathieson Double-Iron Quirk-Ogee-Bevel Molding Plane
$45
This plane cuts a 1in wide by 5/8in deep quirk ogee and bevel, a useful, general-purpose profile. This plane, made by Mathieson in Glasgow, is different in that it uses two blades to cut the profile- one to cut the bevel, the other the ogee. Why two blades? It makes the plane much easier to maintain. When the plane is used, the bevel blade does most of the work since it's removing the most stock. The entire profile must be ground with a single-blade plane when the bevel portion wears down. Two blades require much less grinding and honing to keep the blades projecting evenly across the mouth of the plane. This example has light to moderate wear and is still completely usable. Both blades are clean and have plenty of life left. $45
Auburn 7/8ish Dado Plane
$28
No, that's not a typo. It's marked 7/8in, but the distance between the nickers (which is what defines the size of the dado it cuts) is exactly 13/16. The plane has minimal wear, and long, clean blades. It's still straight. The depth stop works, but it's a little loose. Once it's set it pushes up a bit but it doesn't slip. It's a common problem. Just take the slip into account when you set the depth. It's a good, usable plane $28
Mathieson 7/8in Dado Plane
$28
Greenslade Flat Ovolo Molding Plane
$24
This is a high quality plane made by Greenslade. It cuts a 1/2in wide by 1/4in deep flat ovolo. The plane has light wear. the blade is decent- the back is clean but it needs the usual tuning to get it into working condition. It's a decent, usable plane that cuts a very useful profile $24
Unusual P.A. Gladwin 3/4in Square Reverse Ogee Molding Plane
$35
Gladwin is a well-documented planemaker and inventor working in both CT and the Boston area throughout the 19th century. This is a well-made plane with an odd profile. It cuts a 3/4in tall by 3/4in wide reverse ogee. It has no fence, which is both a plus and minus. A fence could easily be attached to allow it to run along the edge of a board. It has one small check at the heel right at the step. Otherwise, it's in excellent condition. The blade is original length and clean. The mouth is perfectly tight. A solid working example in an unusual configuration $35
